I was raised in Edinburgh, Scotland, and retired in 2022, grateful to God for 45 years in pastoral ministry. Following graduation from GCTS in 1977, I served a small mission church in Labrador, Canada, for 5 years, and then pursued a Ph.D. in Pauline Studies at Union Seminary in Virginia with Dr. Paul Achtemeier.

During and since that time, I have served as preaching and lead pastor in five presbyterian congregations, ranging in size from 17-2500 members, in Virginia, Texas, Kentucky, South Carolina and Washington, DC.

I love preaching, teaching, pastoral care, and administration that helps the body of Christ accomplish God’s purposes. Over the years I have sought to balance my love of academic study with practical ministry, including faith-based inter-racial community organizing. I presently serve as chair of the board of friends of Forman Christian College in Lahore, Pakistan; and teach and preach occasionally for DC area congregations
